Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract

Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract is derived from the root bark of the elm tree (Ulmus davidiana, family Ulmaceae), used traditionally in oriental medicine in China and Korea. Its main components are water-binding polysaccharide sugars, specifically rhamnose, galactose, and glucose. The polysaccharide extract has been shown in a 2006 study to be an effective skin moisturizer, performing nearly as well as hyaluronic acid in water-binding capacity. The same study also identified promising anti-inflammatory and photoprotective properties.
