Squalane
Squalane is a saturated hydrocarbon (containing only carbon and hydrogen) with no double bonds, making it a stable oily liquid with a long shelf life. It occurs naturally in certain fish and plant oils (e.g. olive) and in the sebum of human skin. Its saturated nature distinguishes it from the less stable unsaturated counterpart, squalene. It is listed under CAS # 111-01-3 and its IUPAC name is 2,6,10,15,19,23-Hexamethyltetracosane.
