Sodium Polyacrylate
Sodium Polyacrylate is a superabsorbent synthetic polymer (CAS# 9003-04-7 / 25549-84-2) made from repeated acrylic acid subunits, sometimes referred to as "waterlock." It can absorb 100 to 1000 times its own mass in water. In cosmetic formulations it functions primarily as a viscosity controller and emulsion stabilizer, with additional roles as an absorbent, binder, emollient, film former, hair fixative, and skin conditioner per CosIng.
