Sodium Carbomer

Sodium Carbomer is a pre-neutralised form of Carbomer, a synthetic polymer derived from 2-propenoic acid. Its CAS number is 73298-57-4. Unlike regular Carbomer, it forms viscous gels immediately upon addition to water without requiring neutralisation with a base, though it can be harder to disperse evenly in a formula.

● Benefits

Sodium Carbomer functions primarily as a thickener and emulsion stabiliser, enabling gel formation and viscosity control in cosmetic formulations. It also has film-forming properties. Its pre-neutralised nature simplifies formulation compared to standard Carbomer.
