Salicornia Herbacea Extract
Salicornia Herbacea Extract is derived from glasswort (jointed glasswort, Salicornia herbacea L., Chenopodiaceae), a succulent plant that grows in salt marshes along the coastline of South Korea. According to its Korean manufacturer, the extract contains betaine, amino acids, and minerals. It is also known under the trade name Guardiant and by the common name Glasswort Extract (CAS #: 91845-47-5).

An in-vitro study from 2009 (Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry) demonstrated promising antioxidant and skin-whitening properties, with the authors concluding it "would be a good candidate for a skin rejuvenating agent."
