Purslane Extract
Portulaca Oleracea Extract is derived from the whole plant of purslane (Portulaca oleracea L., Portulacaceae), a succulent with edible, nutritious leaves used in Korean traditional medicine. It is notably the richest green plant source of omega-3 fatty acids (α-linolenic acid) and also contains natural moisturizing factors (polysaccharides and amino acids), vitamins (β-carotene), minerals, and antioxidants (betaxanthins and betacyanins). Its CAS number is 90083-07-1 and EC number is 290-201-1. In cosmetics it is primarily used for skin conditioning.
Purslane Extract has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and research suggests it also supports wound healing. Its rich content of omega-3 fatty acids, NMFs, and pigment antioxidants contributes to soothing irritated skin and protecting against oxidative stress.
