Polyquaternium-67
Polyquaternium-67 is a quaternized cellulose derivative, specifically a 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose ether reacted with n,n,n-trimethyl-n-oxiranylmethylammonium chloride and n-dodecyl-n,n-dimethyl-n-oxiranylmethylammonium chloride. It is a cationic polymer used primarily in hair and skin care formulations. Its quaternary ammonium groups impart antistatic and conditioning properties, while its film-forming ability helps coat and smooth hair and skin surfaces.
Polyquaternium-67 conditions hair by depositing a thin film on the hair shaft, reducing static and improving manageability. Its film-forming properties also help smooth the hair cuticle. It is found in a range of rinse-off and leave-on products including shampoos, conditioners, and cleansing foams.
