Polymethyl Methacrylate

Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) is a synthetic polymer microsphere composed of small, spherical-shaped particles built from repeated methyl methacrylate subunits (CAS #: 9011-14-7). It is used in cosmetic formulations primarily as a film-forming agent and texture enhancer. Similar to other microsphere powders, it can scatter light to produce a soft-focus or blurring effect on the skin. It is also noted for imparting exceptional smoothness and a velvet-like feel to formulas.
