Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (3.95 Ppm)
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, also known by the trade name Syn-Coll, is the reaction product of palmitic acid and tripeptide-5 (the amino acid sequence Lys-Val-Lys). It is classified as a cell-communicating ingredient and is listed under the CosIng function of skin conditioning. It is typically used at low concentrations (e.g., 3.95 ppm) in anti-aging formulations.
Claimed to protect and boost collagen and improve skin texture. Manufacturer-conducted in-vivo studies found that 1% and 2.5% Syn-Coll used twice daily for 84 days reduced the appearance of wrinkles by 7% and 12% respectively; a separate manufacturer study reported that 77% of participants felt it visibly improved firmness and elasticity, and 60% noticed a reduction in the look of pore size after 4 weeks.
