Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil
Olea Europaea Fruit Oil is the fixed oil obtained from the ripe fruit of the olive (Olea europaea L., Oleaceae). It consists primarily of glycerides of fatty acids, with oleic acid as the main component (55–83%), alongside linoleic (3.5–20%) and palmitic acids (7–20%). It also contains antioxidant polyphenols, tocopherols (vitamin E), carotenoids, and is noted as one of the best plant sources of squalene. Its official CosIng functions are listed as masking, perfuming, and skin conditioning.
Olive fruit oil moisturizes and nourishes the skin, making it particularly suitable for dry skin types. Its rich fatty acid profile and antioxidant compounds (polyphenols, tocopherols, carotenoids) support skin conditioning and protection. It is also a notable natural source of squalene, a skin-identical emollient.
Generally considered less suitable for acne-prone or damaged skin due to its comedogenic potential (rated 0–2). Those with oily or breakout-prone skin should use with caution.
