Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil
Oenothera Biennis Oil is the fixed oil derived from the seeds of the evening primrose plant (Oenothera biennis, Onagraceae). It is a rich source of linoleic acid (66–76%) and also contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA, 7–12%), a fatty acid noted for soothing and healing properties, as well as oleic acid (6–15%). It has been used as a food supplement since the 1980s and is also widely used in topical cosmetic formulations.
Evening Primrose Oil is a hydrating plant oil that can reduce inflammation and irritation, making it especially beneficial for dry and easily irritated skin. It is described as a healing agent that initiates structural changes within the skin rather than merely forming a surface barrier, and it also supports skin cell regeneration.
