Lactobionic Acid (100Ppm)
Lactobionic acid is a polyhydroxy acid (PHA), also referred to as bionic acid or aldobionic acid, with the chemical name 4-O-Beta-D-Galactopyranosyl-D-Gluconic Acid (CAS #96-82-2). It is considered a next-generation AHA that gently lifts dead skin cells to smooth and even the skin. It also has moisturizing, barrier-supporting, and antioxidant properties, and is noted for being suitable for sensitive skin and post-cosmetic-procedure use.
Lactobionic acid gently exfoliates dead skin cells to improve skin smoothness and evenness while simultaneously moisturizing and supporting the skin barrier. It offers anti-aging benefits and antioxidant activity, with significantly less irritation potential than traditional AHAs, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Generally well-tolerated, including on sensitive skin and post-cosmetic procedures; the source notes anti-aging benefits are slightly less pronounced compared to traditional AHAs.
