Lactobacillus Ferment
Lactobacillus Ferment is the product obtained from the fermentation of Lactobacillus bacteria. It is a probiotic-derived ingredient that is also used as a natural preservative in cosmetic formulas, sold under the trade name Leucidal Liquid SF. Its official CosIng function is listed as skin conditioning.
According to Estée Lauder research, it acts as a DNA repair enzyme and helps protect skin against environmental aggressors. It has demonstrated anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, with studies suggesting effectiveness against acne and rosacea — 5% was needed for anti-acne efficacy, while 1% showed results in reducing skin sensitivity. Manufacturer Barnet reports it kills harmful bacteria and supports a healthy balanced microflora, with faster reduction of acne lesion size and redness compared to salicylic acid.
