Hydrolyzed Collagen

Hydrolyzed Collagen is the chemically chopped-up version of the large protein molecule collagen, often derived from fish or bovine sources. It is produced by acidic, alkaline, or enzymatic hydrolysis, resulting in an undefined and varying mix of largish peptides (average molecular weight ~12,000 Da) composed primarily of amino acids, peptides, and proteins. It may contain impurities consisting chiefly of carbohydrates and lipids along with smaller quantities of miscellaneous organic substances of biological origin. It is used in skin care, cleansers, and hair conditioners.
