Hydrogen Dimethicone

Hydrogen Dimethicone is a silicone derivative that sits structurally between Dimethicone and Methicone, with some methyl (-CH3) groups replaced by hydrogen atoms. Its CAS numbers are 68037-59-2 / 69013-23-6 / 70900-21-9. It is primarily used as a pigment bonding agent and for the hydrophobization treatment of powders, as the hydrogen atoms can absorb traces of water from pigment surfaces. It almost always appears in formulations alongside Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, or Mica.

● Benefits

In suncare products, it binds to physical UV filters to maximize their protection while minimizing white cast. In makeup, it provides hydrophobic properties and improves skin adhesion, helping products stay in place. It is reported to have good chemical stability with no irritation.
