Honey (also listed as Mel) is a bee-derived, supersaturated sugar solution with CAS # 8028-66-8. Approximately 95% of its dry weight is sugar, with the remaining 5% comprising proteins, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, and minerals. It is considered one of the oldest skincare ingredients, with evidence of use dating back to around 4500 BC. Different floral sources yield honeys of varying composition and properties.
