Glyceryl Stearate is a waxy, white, solid ingredient formed by the attachment of a glycerin molecule to the fatty acid stearic acid. It is a monoester of glycerol and stearic acid (CAS #31566-31-1) and can be derived from most vegetable oils through a simple, biodegradable process similar to soap making. It also occurs naturally in the human body and is used as a food additive.
