Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil is a volatile essential oil obtained by steam distilling the fresh leaves of the Eucalyptus globulus tree and related Eucalyptus species (family Myrtaceae). It is a colorless to pale yellow oil with a characteristic camphoraceous aroma. Its primary component is eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole, comprising 80–91% of the oil), which is associated with antibacterial and expectorant properties. It is used in cosmetics primarily for perfuming and skin conditioning.
The oil's main component, eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), has demonstrated significant antibacterial and expectorant properties. It is considered relatively non-sensitising among essential oils, with an EU sensitizer total of approximately 5% (attributable to limonene). It is also listed as a skin conditioning agent per CosIng.
Contains limonene, a known EU-listed sensitizer (contributing to a ~5% sensitizer total). Individuals with super-sensitive skin or fragrance allergies are advised to avoid it. As a fragrance/essential oil, it carries a general risk of skin sensitization or allergic reaction in susceptible individuals.
