Ethyl Menthane Carboxamide

Ethyl Menthane Carboxamide (INCI: N-Ethyl-2-(Isopropyl)-5-Methylcyclohexanecarboxamide, CAS 39711-79-0) is a synthetic menthol derivative used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. Unlike menthol, it is virtually nonvolatile, odorless, and tasteless. It is frequently combined with other cooling agents such as Menthyl Lactate and/or Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide to enhance the perceived cooling sensation. Its official CosIng function is listed as "tonic."

● Benefits

Its primary established benefit is delivering a strong cooling effect on the skin without the volatility, odor, or taste associated with menthol. It is often used in combination with other cooling agents to amplify the cooling sensation in a formula. A proposed secondary anti-aging benefit via calcium ion modulation is considered speculative by the source, as the supporting research involves sensory neurons in rats and the extrapolation to skin anti-aging is described as "far-fetched."
