Can cause allergic contact dermatitis; should be avoided by individuals with perfume allergies. In a 2001 worldwide study of 178 people with known fragrance sensitization, citronellol tested positive in 5.6% of cases. Subject to EU Cosmetic Restrictions (III/86).
