Ci. 77019
Mica (CI 77019) is a series of silicate minerals with varying chemical composition but similar physical properties, including well-defined cleavage that allows splitting into very thin sheets. It is a versatile mineral powder available in different particle sizes. It functions as an anti-caking agent, opacifier, and bulking agent, and is most commonly used as a base material for layered composite pigments such as pearl-effect pigments, where it is coated with metal oxides like titanium dioxide to create interference-based pearl effects.
Mica improves skin feel and increases product slip, gives formulations light-reflecting properties, and enhances skin adhesion. It is a multi-tasker that also serves as an anti-caking agent in cosmetic formulations.
