Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract
Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract is derived from the flowerheads of German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla recutita). It contains active terpenoids including chamazulene and bisabolol, as well as flavonoids such as matricine, apigenin, and luteolin. It is one of the most widely used medicinal herbs in both traditional and cosmetic applications. Its CAS number is 84082-60-0.
Primarily valued for its anti-inflammatory properties, supported by animal studies on its key constituents chamazulene and bisabolol. It also provides antioxidant activity attributed to matricine, apigenin, and luteolin. Cosmetic companies use it mainly for skin conditioning and soothing purposes.
