Cetearyl Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate is an ester derived from cetearyl alcohol and the fatty acids of olive oil. It is commonly used as an emulsifier, often paired with Sorbitan Olivate to form the trade-named blend Olivem 1000. Together, these two ingredients generate liquid crystal structures similar to the lipid structures of the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin. Its typical use level in formulations is 1–5%, and it has wide compatibility with other actives and oils.

● Benefits

Beyond its emulsifying role, Cetearyl Olivate (as part of Olivem 1000) provides significant moisturizing, barrier-repairing, and soothing properties due to its ability to mimic the skin's natural lipid structures. It also enhances the delivery of water-soluble actives such as caffeine and can boost SPF performance in sunscreen formulas.
