Ceramide NP (0.51%)

Ceramide NP (also known as Ceramide 3) is an N-acylated sphingolipid consisting of phytosphingosine with the D-erythro structure linked to a normal saturated or unsaturated fatty acid (CAS# 72968-43-5). It is one of many ceramide types found naturally in the uppermost layer of the skin. Ceramides collectively make up approximately 50% of the intercellular lipid matrix between skin cells, playing a key structural role in the skin barrier.

● Benefits

Ceramide NP supports a healthy skin barrier and helps keep the skin hydrated by replenishing naturally occurring intercellular lipids. Its hydrating and barrier-repair effects are enhanced when used in combination with Ceramide 1, as the two act synergistically to improve skin hydration and reduce transepidermal water loss, including on surfactant-irritated skin.
