Ceramide AP (0.05 Ppb)
Ceramide AP, formerly known under the INCI name Ceramide 6 II, is an N-acylated sphingolipid consisting of phytosphingosine having the D-erythro structure linked to an alpha-hydroxy saturated or unsaturated fatty acid (CAS #100403-19-8). It is a type of ceramide that occurs naturally in the upper layer of the skin. Ceramides as a class make up approximately 50% of the intercellular matrix between skin cells and play an important role in maintaining a healthy skin barrier and keeping the skin hydrated. Its official CosIng-listed functions are hair conditioning and skin conditioning.
Ceramide AP supports the skin's natural barrier by replenishing ceramides found in the stratum corneum, helping to maintain hydration and barrier integrity. As a skin-identical ingredient, it closely mimics the ceramides naturally present in human skin.
