Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) Extract (70.78%)
Centella Asiatica Extract (also known as Gotu Kola, Tiger Grass, or Cica) is derived from the whole plant of Centella asiatica L., Apiaceae (CAS# 84696-21-9). Its key biologically active compounds are pentacyclic triterpenoid saponins — asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid — collectively called centellosides. It has been used in folk medicine for hundreds of years, particularly for wound healing and inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema. Per CosIng, its official functions include cleansing, skin conditioning, smoothing, soothing, and tonic.
Centella Asiatica Extract has demonstrated wound healing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties supported by multiple studies. Its centellosides stimulate glycosaminoglycan and hyaluronic acid synthesis, contributing to skin moisturization confirmed in a clinical study. Madecassoside supports burn wound healing via antioxidant activity and enhanced collagen synthesis, while the extract may also help with cellulite and striae by regulating microcirculation and connective tissue metabolism.
