Carrageenan

Carrageenan is a natural polysaccharide (large sugar molecule) derived from red edible seaweeds belonging to the Gigartinaceae or Solieriaceae families of Rhodophyceae. It is used in cosmetic formulations primarily as a helper ingredient for its gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties. It is commonly found in hydrogel patches, serums, and similar leave-on and rinse-off products.
