Asiatic Pennywort Extract

Centella Asiatica Extract (also known as Gotu Kola, Tiger Grass, or Cica) is derived from the whole plant of Centella asiatica L., Apiaceae family (CAS# 84696-21-9). Its key biologically active compounds are pentacyclic triterpenoid saponins — asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid — collectively known as centellosides. It has been used in folk medicine for hundreds of years, particularly for wound healing and as an anti-inflammatory agent. CosIng lists its official functions as cleansing, skin conditioning, smoothing, soothing, and tonic.

● Benefits

Centella Asiatica Extract has demonstrated wound healing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties supported by multiple studies. Its centellosides stimulate glycosaminoglycan and hyaluronic acid synthesis, contributing to skin moisturization confirmed in a clinical study. Madecassoside supports burn wound healing via antioxidant activity and collagen synthesis enhancement, while asiaticoside has been shown to increase antioxidant levels in skin.
