Founded in Seoul in 2005 by Leeo (Chin Wook) Lee, originally an architect. While working in architecture, Lee was introduced to a makeup-like blemish balm available only inside Korean dermatology clinics, and partnered with labs to create a consumer-ready version that combined skincare benefits with foundation-style coverage — the BB cream. BB cream was an instant hit in Korea and arguably defined a new global skincare-meets-makeup category. The brand expanded into derma-focused hero franchises including Ceramidin (5-ceramide barrier complex), Cicapair (Tiger Grass / Centella Asiatica calming), Cryo Rubber masks, Pore.remedy, Teatreetment, Vital Hydra Solution, and Every Sun Day SPF. Dr.Jart+ was acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies in 2019, becoming Estée Lauder's first all-Korean brand acquisition.
